Here at ISU Equine Hospital, we pride ourselves on not just being known as leading experts in our respective fields, but on working together as a collegial team unit to ensure that every horse gets the best that we all have to offer. This team-based approach ensures that each horse gets a comprehensive evaluation to try and meet each horse’s needs and owners goals.
Our Facilities
ISU’s equine hospital is one of the state of Iowa’s premier facilities which includes:
- An Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to allow for detailed care of the most critical patients
- An isolation facility to allow for ICU level care of those patients that may be at risk of having or getting infectious diseases
- General wards to allow for a more relaxed atmosphere for hospitalized horses requiring less critical care and monitoring than the ICU
- A climate-controlled performance arena for year-round safe and detail performance evaluations
- Multiple examination rooms to ensure that each horse is safely and privately cared for and evaluated
- Advanced diagnostic imaging including digital radiography, ultrasonography, nuclear scintigraphy (“Bone Scan”), computed tomography (CT or “CAT scan”) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Several endoscopy units to allow for upper respiratory imaging (stationary and “over ground” or while exercising), gastroscopy and cystoscopy.
