About Us

“When you get one of us, you get all of us”

Here at ISU Equine Hospital, we pride ourselves on not just being known as leading experts in our respective fields, but on working together as a collegial team unit to ensure that every horse gets the best that we all have to offer. This team-based approach ensures that each horse gets a comprehensive evaluation to try and meet each horse’s needs and owners goals.

Our Facilities

ISU’s equine hospital is one of the state of Iowa’s premier facilities which includes:

  • An Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to allow for detailed care of the most critical patients
  • An isolation facility to allow for ICU level care of those patients that may be at risk of having or getting infectious diseases
  • General wards to allow for a more relaxed atmosphere for hospitalized horses requiring less critical care and monitoring than the ICU
  • A climate-controlled performance arena for year-round safe and detail performance evaluations
  • Multiple examination rooms to ensure that each horse is safely and privately cared for and evaluated
  • Advanced diagnostic imaging including digital radiography, ultrasonography, nuclear scintigraphy (“Bone Scan”), computed tomography (CT or “CAT scan”) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Several endoscopy units to allow for upper respiratory imaging (stationary and “over ground” or while exercising), gastroscopy and cystoscopy.
